A 2007 LA Shorts Fest Selection

REVIEW: “In one of the most heartfelt and emotional pieces of the afternoon, My Dog Chloe deals with the passing of a man’s beloved friend Chloe. Shot days after Mendelson was forced to put his ailing dog to sleep, we get the potent raw emotions, draped in personal testimony and memorable photographic stills. We immediately feel the loss of Chloe and are reminded of the strong emotional bonds between pet owners and their pets.”  — Indie Express

  • I can’t help but cry. I love my dog so much. He is all I have. If I lost him I don’t know what I would do. I don’t make much money but I spend a large portion of it on him. Recently, he was bit by a tick and has been acting funny. I think he has Lyme disease. I can’t stop crying. I feel like my heart is being ripped out of my chest.

  • We had to put our 14-year-old GSP to sleep last week. This story is so close to the story of my Randi Roo….I miss her so much. I knew that she meant the world to me when she was alive, but didn’t realize how great an impact she had on my life until I held her paw as she drifted away. 14 years is a long time. RIP Little Roo <3

  • I have had two dogs for as long as I can remember, Ubu and Trinity. I am 11, and we got them when I was just born. They were brother and sister. At age 11 Trinity started not eating well, and she became very picky about her food. We noticed she was always panting. after 6 months we took her for a walk, and she came back home. I saw her laying in the floor on her side. She stayed there and only ate ice cream fed to her in a syringe. That night she threw up, and we took her to the emergency vet. We also saw an internal specialist, but they had no idea what was wrong. Finally we took her to a vet school and they diagnosed her very quickly. She had Hemangiosarcoma, a tumor on the heart. It was bleeding into the pericardium, the sack around her heart. The pericardium was filling up with blood, and smashing her heart. The vets took out the blood from the pericardium. They told us she had up to a month for her to live, then we would have to put her down. We made her a bed, and slept with her on the couches downstairs for 3 weeks. One weekend I came up with a final idea, to give her the thing she most loved, food. I made her the queen of treats, and we had a great time celebrating and eating. She loved all the free treats!! 5 days later it was the middle of the night. I looked out from my room and saw her sitting on the stairs. My mom came and shut my door. I soon fell asleep. The next morning I got up ready for school, and I saw my mom was sad. I realized Trinity was not here. She told me, and I cried. I still cry, all the time. I am actually crying right now.

  • I lost my dog Chloe yesterday around 4:15p,She was an 11 yr old Maltese.I loved her so much and the pain unreal. She had diarrhea 2 weeks ago with a fever and they treated her for that but they did not diagnose pneumonia. She fell ill I continued to take her to the ER to get oxygen and an IV and just prayed she would pull through. She got to the point she was suffering even on oxygen.Dec 4,2013 was the darkest day of my life.I had to let her go.I have had the help of my family and they are staying with me but I am still so alone.I just wanted to share because I just want to share the pain.I am so thankful for this video and so sorry.Time will heal and one day we will be with our dogs again and in heaven I believe I will be able to talk to my dog Chloe.I never thought I could love so much but it was only because I saw how much she wanted me to be with her all the time and loved me so much.

  • The most beautiful tribute I’ve ever seen for the love of an animal. They truly become family and losing them can be devastating for sure. Thank you for sharing such a loving story. No doubt you have helped many others in the name/honor of your sweet Chloe… just to get thru the grieving process and not feel so alone in their pain. XoXoXo thank you 🙂
